Mindfulness: Understand and Apply Mindfulness to Daily Life: Thursday, December 12th at 6 PM

In this talk, we will explore what mindfulness is and how it can be practiced in order to achieve a greater sense of well-being. We often struggle with the incessant chatter in our heads that leads to regret, anxiety, fear, or sadness. By taming this “monkey mind”, we can find more peace, and a recognition that we cannot always control what life brings us, but we can control how we respond.

Presenter, Lizzie Linn has been teaching in higher education for over 15 years. She received her BA in Philosophy/Religion and her MA in Critical and Creative Thinking. She is working on completing her doctoral studies in Educational Leadership.  Her dissertation focuses on self-awareness and well-being in higher education. She currently teaches interdisciplinary studies at Merrimack College.  Her curriculum also includes a unit on “The Science of Happiness” which looks at happiness through the lens of positive psychology.
